O Lord, Open Our Eyes

There is a great spiritual war happening all around us all the time. Most people walk around all of the time oblivious to this fact. That is why Satan and his forces defeat them. They think the battles of life are with people and money. Satan is the real foe, and God is the only one who can defeat him.

Elisha's servant found this out, when the army had come to take him and Elisha. (II Kings 6:17) Then, Elisha prayed for the Lord to open his eyes and let him see what was really going on. Then, the servant looked up and saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with chariots and horses of fire to defend his master. That is why Elisha was not afraid, and neither should we be afraid.

We lose the spiritual war when we fight against the wrong enemy. Also, we lose when we think we can't win so we give up and stop trying. Satan is smart. He wants to make us think that his power is overwhelming, so we don't stand a chance. That is never true.

For those of us who know the Lord, He has promised to be with us and never leave us. We have His Spirit to empower us and direct us. Satan is no match for the Lord. All we must do is allow the Lord to fill us with His Spirit every day and do whatever He says. He will open our eyes to show us what is going on around us in the spiritual realm, and He will give us the victory as we trust Him.
