Sinning Worse than Our Ancestors
The Bible says that sin is like yeast. It spreads throughout the entire lump of dough. Sin spreads from one person to the next in a rapid fashion, too. Also, The level of sin in a society doesn't remain static. It is either getting worse or better, and the only way it gets better is when there is a revival or an awakening. We may wish it would stay the same, but that is against the nature of sin.
When Rehoboam became the King of Judah after Solomon's death, we do not read of any actions he took to restrain sin. (I Kings 14:22) Therefore, during Rehoboam's reign, the people of Judah did what was evil in the Lord's sight, provoking His anger with their sin, for it was even worse than that of their ancestors.
We see this in America and in the world today. Sin is getting worse and worse. If we are not informed, we might think that things are going about the same as previous generations. However, for those of us who are watching, we see a rapid decline. We need to have a great revival in a very bad way.
I pray we would all realize this in our own lives, too. We must make a point to get closer to God, or we will fall away into more sin. If we don't restrain our children and grandchildren, they will sin worse than our generation, too. The solution is to always be submitting fully to God, resisting Satan, and following the Lord with all our heart.
