When God is Through with Us
We are all here to know the Lord and to bring Him glory in how we live. He has various jobs for us to do during our time on earth. As we follow Him, He shows us when He is through with us in one job and what He has planned for us to do next. We need to be sensitive to the Lord and leave it up to Him to lead us into what is best for us.
That is what David told Zadok as they were leaving Jerusalem when his son Absalom proclaimed himself to be king instead of his father and started a rebellion. (II Samuel 15:25-26) He told Zadok to take the Ark of God back into the city. Then, David proclaimed that if the Lord sees fit He would bring him back to see the Ark and the Tabernacle again, but if God was through with him, He wanted God to do what was best for Him. This is a valuable truth.
We can do nothing for the Lord on our own. Jesus said, "Without Me, you can do nothing." (John 15:5) Therefore, if we are out of God's will, we can't be used by Him. We must make sure we are not trying to do the job we want to do, but the one He has selected for us.
We must be open to asking God, "Are you through with me in this position?" We must be ready to move on if that is what He says. However, He may say, like He said to David, "I am not through with you yet." In that case we keep serving Him in that way until be shows us otherwise.
