Making Amends

I am sure we have all done something to offend or even to harm an innocent person. When we do that it causes hard feelings between us, or it can bring hatred toward us. Whatever happens, that person will not think much of us, unless we are reconciled. God sees it, too, and He can't bless us until we make amends.

David realized the famine in the land was caused by Saul breaking the agreement with the Gibeonites and trying to kill all of them. (II Samuel 21:3) David went to them and asked them what he could do to make amends, so they would be able to bless the Lord's people again and not hate them. We can learn from this.

If we fail to make amends with those we offend or harm, God won't bless us. He commands us, not only to forgive, but to be reconciled, to become friends again. Is there anyone you need to go to and make amends with? Now is the time.

If we fail to make amends, we will have a spiritual famine in our life.  God will cut off the flow of His refreshing. We must do what it takes to make amends and for people to say good things about us or bless us for our actions, instead of being upset with us. Then, God will be able to do the same.
