Not One is Missing
One of the worst feelings in life is when we lose something important or someone who is dear to us. If we lost something that we need, we keep looking for it, hoping to find it. When we a lose another person, it is much more difficult. We grieve the loss, and we wonder how we can ever overcome the sadness. Also, the opposite is true. When we think we have lost something or someone, and we find out we were wrong, it is a feeling of joy. We are so grateful to find out all is well. That is what happened to the leaders of the army of Israel after their battle with the Midianites. (Numbers 31:48-49) In battle, it is expected that there will be casualties. However, when the commanders of thousands and hundreds took a census of the fighting men, they found that not one of them was missing. What a huge blessing! However, there is an even greater blessing than that for us to consider.
As believers, we belong to God. We are adopted into His family. God has promised us in the Bible in several places that He will make sure that no one ever snatches us out of His hands. (John 10:28,29) We are secure in Christ, and we can know that He has gone to prepare a place for us in heaven, so that where He is, we can be also. (John 14:1-2) Just think of it, once we get to heaven, there will be no more losing people to death or to the attacks of Satan. God will make sure that not one of us is missing. Then, we will be together with Him for eternity. Therefore, I pray we will live in the confidence of this truth, knowing that no one, not even the devil, can dislodge us from the hand of God and keep us from Heaven. When the role is called up yonder, not one of us will be missing. I pray we will rejoice and give the Lord the praise for this fact, just like the leaders of Israel's army gave God a tribute for Him saving ever soldier in their ranks.
