The Fall of Babylon

I think many people believe that America is invincible. We believe that things will continue as we have known them, no matter what happens in this world. Nothing could be farther from the truth. God is sitting on His throne, and He decides what happens to every country in the world and when those things will come to pass. Jeremiah spent two chapters detailing the coming fall of Babylon. (Jeremiah 51:37) I am sure when his scroll was read in Babylon that many people laughed at the idea Babylon would become a heap of ruins and a haunt of jackals, but it did happen. I am sure they could not fathom that great kingdom becoming an object of horror and hissing with no inhabitants, after being such a strong, well populated city. The truth is that Jeremiah's prophecy came true and Babylon is still a heap of ruins with no inhabitants today. We can learn a great lesson from this.

God oversees the rise and fall of nations. He has His purposes for establishing some nations and for allowing other nations to rise. He can use the righteous nations in a great way to do His will. However, He can use the evil nations, too, like He used Babylon to punish Judah and Jerusalem. We need to humble ourselves, as Americans, and as Christians, and cry out to God to spare America from His devastation. We need to repent of our sins, and return to the Lord. God is watching us. I believe there are signs that He is not pleased. with what He is seeing. At any time the Almighty God of the universe could destroy the USA for our sins, and we would not longer be a country. We could even be wiped out completely, so that we do not have any inhabitants like Babylon. Let's do our part to entreat the Lord for His favor and to bring revival to the land.
