God is on Our Side
When we put our trust in the Lord and belong to Him, we are His children, but we are also His servants. After all, He is the Master or Lord, so we are here to honor and glorify Him by all we do at His direction. He does not treat us like many masters treat their servants, though. He is a loving Lord, and He wants us to know that. Jeremiah gave Israel these assurances as a promise to them, which I believe goes for us, as believers, today. (Jeremiah 46:28) God assured the descendants of Jacob that since they were His servants, He was with them, so they did not need to fear anyone. He would deliver them from their oppressors. He would punish them in the proper way, but He would not make a complete end to them. God was on their side, and now God is on our side!
Are we afraid of others? We shouldn't be. God is always with us. Do we get down and depressed when bad things happen to us? We shouldn't. God has a purpose for those things happening, and He will bring them to an end when He has completed that purpose in us. He will never destroy us. He is with us to build us up and make us stronger. He will correct us properly every time, but He will not let us go unpunished for our sins, because He loves us. The punishment is to stop us from sinning and to get us to look to Him in faith. See what I mean? God is on our side. He is in our corner for the fight of life. Let's be encouraged and remain faithful, no matter what happens.
