My Heart will not Fear
Fear is the constant enemy of many people in our world. They may be afraid of other people. They may be afraid of diseases. Some are in fear of someone rejecting them or looking down on them. There are any number of causes for fear. However, God does not want us to fear anyone or anything but Him. In fact, in Him we can be free from fear. David knew this out of his experience against all types of enemies and phobias. (Psalm 27:1,3) He had come to know the Lord in such a way that his fear was banished from his life. Anyone can do this, but we all just have to spend the time and effort it takes to draw near to God and know Him well. I pray we will all do this.
The Lord is our light. When we are in the dark, many things are very scary for us. When we have plenty of light, we can see there is no need for fear. God is that light for His children to clearly see Him. They see His power and glory so that they know there is no need to fear. God is our salvation. He is there to save us from anyone or anything that would harm us. Once we know that nothing happens to us, as God's children, that He doesn't allow to happen, we know He is there for us to deliver us. God is the defense of our life. He stands against all our enemies or anything that would hurt us emotionally, spiritually, or physically. All of these things are why even if an army comes against us, and we see war beginning, we do not need to be afraid. We know God is in control of our life and our world, so we can live in confidence in Him. That is the life that is lived in peace, not fear.
