God's Greatness
The perfection of God's attributes is beyond anything we can imagine. He is so much greater than us, we can't fully comprehend any comparison. When we learn about God and come to know Him personally, we are constantly amazed at what we see in Him. However, He wants us to be as much like Him as we can in the power of the Spirit. That gives us something to strive for each day until we are with Him in heaven. David was so close to God at times in his life that he realized these things more than most people. (Psalm 36:5,6) He saw these things because he experienced them in His relationship with God over the years. We can learn much from David about the lovingkindness, faithfulness, righteousness, and judgments of God. Truly, He is the One who preserves humans and animals all of the time by His great power and love.
God always keeps the covenant He makes with nations or individuals. That is His lovingkindness. It means that God is serious about showing His love and grace to those with whom He is related in a covenant bond. God will never break His covenant with Israel or with believers today. His lovingkindness is far beyond any human commitments. God is always faithful. His faithfulness is so steady and sure that we can't imagine that He never forgets anything He promises to do for us, and when we respond to Him in faith, He always responds to us. God is totally righteous. He never does the wrong thing, and He always does the right thing in the right way. He is solid like a mountain. His justice and goodness will not be moved. God's judgments are deep like an ocean. He sees things we can't see, and He understands things we will never understand. He is the ultimate deep thinker, and therefore His judgments are always correct. All of these attributes, and more, enable God to preserve us and the animals according to His perfect design of creation. What a wonderful God we serve!
