Resurrection and Life

We all need to be resurrected from spiritual death. We all need life. When we come into this world, we have a sinful nature, passed down from Adam and Eve. Not that long after we are born, we sin and we become dead in trespasses and sin. Our only hope is resurrection from that state of death. There is only one source of resurrection and life that can help us. He is Jesus Christ, the Lord. Jesus told Martha, Lazarus' sister, this truth after her brother had died. (John 11:25, 26) Jesus came to show her and all of the people there that they did not have to wait for the End to be resurrected. He was the Resurrection and Life, standing right in front of them. The key to receiving these great blessings was to believe in Him. Once we do that we will live, and we will never die, even when the fleshly body dies. This is God's desire for all of us.

We are all in need of joy and peace. We all look for it in our own way. We will never find it, if we do not accept the fact that Jesus is the Only One who can give us joy and peace. He does that by being the Resurrection and Life to us. However, it is a personal choice, not an automatic reality. Just like Jesus asked Martha, "Do you believe this?," He is asking each of us if we believe this. Do we really believe He died for us, so that if we trust Him, we will be saved from our sins? If we have never made that choice and secured that spiritual resurrection from the dead by the grace of God saving us from sin, we need to take that step today. Once we do that, we will live, no matter what happens to us or our world.
