Might Become As I Am

How are you doing? We ask people that all of the time, but I do not think they put much thought into their answers. However, for the sake of this conversation, I want you to think about how you are really doing? Are you happy and content? Do you have a heart full of joy and peace? Would you say that your life is as good or better than anyone else in the world? I know that is a lot to consider, but I think we all know what I mean. Are we really satisfied with the condition of our lives? Paul was so totally satisfied with his life as he stood before king Agrippa that he told that the king that he wished before God that the king and everyone else who heard him speak that day might become as he was, except for being in chains. (Acts 26:29) That is a pretty amazing statement made to a king, who was one of the most wealthy and powerful people in all the land.

Paul's statement to King Agrippa should make us think about what makes our life worthwhile and fulfilled. It is not money or power. Those things are very temporary and fleeting. It is not physical health or strength that cause us to have a great life. It is not even good looks or popularity. Paul did not have any of these things, but he was convinced that all of people there that day would be better off, if they were like him. I believe Paul could say that because he had found the true meaning of life and eternal life, at that. He had a close relationship with the Creator of the universe. He was assured that the Lord of all, Jesus Christ, loved Him and had forgiven his sins and prepared a place for him in heaven. He also knew that this same God would take care of him in his earthly life, and then one day come to receive him into heaven. Therefore, Paul could live in love, joy, and peace of mind and heart every day, no matter what happened to him. Now that is the best life anyone can have. Only the Lord Jesus can do that for anyone, but that kind of life is available to every person who will turn from their way, and submit to Jesus as Lord and Savior in faith. I found that life in Christ, and you can, too. That is why I wish before God that all who are reading this might become like me today. God is waiting with open arms.
