Bringing Salvation to the End of the Earth

I just returned from a trip to Mexico, where we were learning and preparing to share the gospel with a people group in a town that has no known believers. Also, I shared today in our worship service about receiving an offering for our international missionaries sent out by the Southern Baptist Convention, and my son-in-law, who is one of those missionaries, shared a message with our congregation to encourage us in the work. Why are we doing all of these things since we live in America? God commands us to take the gospel of salvation to the end of the earth. (Acts 13:47) Let's look at this truth as Paul was inspired to record it for us in his sermon at Antioch of Pisidia, almost 2,000 years ago.

Paul and Barnabas were called out from the believers at Antioch to take the gospel to the end of the earth. They went to Cyprus first and saw the Proconsul, Sergius Paulus, come to the Lord. They ended up in the other Antioch preaching the truth of Jesus to them. During the message Paul quoted Isaiah 49:6 where God told His people, "I have made you a light to the Gentiles to bring salvation to the end of the earth." Now, if that was true for the Jews in the Old Covenant, how much more true is it today after the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus? He Himself gave us the same command in the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:18-20) Therefore, I pray that we will understand that taking the gospel to everyone in the world must be a priority of every believer. We are lights to shine the Good News to everyone, here and abroad. Please, ask God what He would have you to do in bringing salvation to the end of the earth, and then do it with diligence.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 14-16.
