God Doesn't Show Favoritism
Peter learned a great lesson that we all need to learn. While he was staying with Simon, the tanner, in Joppa, the Lord gave him a vision. The vision was of all kinds of animals the Jews considered "unclean," so they would not eat them. However, God told Peter to eat them, because God had declared them to be clean. Right after that some Gentiles came to the house, and Peter realized that the Lord was saying in the vision that he should not consider anyone impure or unclean. So Peter went with the men to preach the gospel to the household of Cornelius. Before he preached, Peter told them that he had come to understand that God shows no favoritism. (Acts 10:28,34) People all over the world struggle with prejudice toward other people for various reasons. Also, there are many people who feel superior to others. We need to do things God's way, not man's way.
Is there anyone you are tempted to look down on for any reason? It could be they are of another race or religion. It might be that they are of another socio-economic group from you. No matter what might tempt us to be prejudice against another person or group of people, we need to accept them as people made in God's image and love them. No one we meet should feel any level of rejection from us. Jesus loves all people, and we need to ask Him for His kind of love to show through us. Also, we must not feel that we are superior to others for any reason. All people and people groups on this earth have an equal standing before God. He never shows any favoritism. Therefore, we need to seek for all people to come to Christ, and then, we should receive them as brothers and sisters in Christ. This is how God views us, and we should strive to live up to God's standard, not man's ways.
