King Darius' Decree

King Darius of Persia was overjoyed and amazed to find out that God had delivered Daniel from the lions' den. He issued a decree to all of the people of his kingdom that they must tremble in fear before the God of Daniel. Then, He gave a doxology of praise to Daniel's God, the One True God. (Daniel 6:26,27) If this pagan king could come to make such a decree and to understand the character of God, then it is possible for all people who do not believe in the Lord to see these same things. Let's look at what God showed the king.

God is the Living God. There is no doubt that He is alive because of His great works. He is the Eternal God with no beginning or end to His life. God rules over an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion has no end. He rules the entire universe. God rescues and delivers people. He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. All of His power was displayed when He rescued Daniel from the lions' den. Now that is a great description of God's character.

Therefore, we need to submit to God like Daniel and remain faithful to the Lord, even if we have to face persecution. Then, when God rescues us from the schemes of those around us, we can be an instrument of God to show people His character, like Daniel. This way people see the Lord like King Darius did, and they have no excuse for not trusting in the Lord Jesus. Let's decide today to be courageous disciples like Daniel and watch to see what God does to rescue us and reveal Himself to those around us.
