Truth and Justice
We hear a lot of talk today about truth and justice. I think that is why verses that teach these concepts stick out to me. I believe we should not listen to what the world around us is saying about truth and justice. We need to listen to what God has said about those two things. The psalmist gave us a very good insight here. (Psalm 111:7) Let's see his point and apply it in our lives.
The works of God's hands are truth and justice. That means that whatever God does is true and right. His works are our standard for what is true and what is just. In His Word, the Bible, He has instructions for us, and all His instructions are trustworthy. Therefore, if we put together what God did and what God said, we will have a good picture of truth and justice.
Let's consider an example. God punished people in the Bible for sexual immorality of all kinds, both heterosexual and homosexual. Then, we read that we should "flee sexual immorality." (I Corinthians 6:18) Therefore, we can conclude that sexual immorality is a sin, and it is right for us to warn people and punish people for it, like God directs. Also, we know that marriage is to be between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24) Sexual relations are only to be a part of marriage. Therefore, all other sexual relations are sin. I know this is the opposite of what most people believe today, and it is not popular for me to write this. However, I need to uphold truth and be the salt of the earth to preserve truth. (Matthew 5:13) If we as Christians fail to do this, we have lost our power to influence our culture and lead people to God's truth and righteousness, like salt without power. We should do this with a great amount of love, not acting like we are perfect, especially when we speak to non-believers. If we do not speak up, we are not expressing love, because we are allowing people to destroy themselves. This is one reason our culture is in the state it is in. We have not applied God's standard to our lives and those we know.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 112-115.
