A Devious Heart

We often see people being devious. They are trying to do something that is wrong, or at least, it is questionable, so they act in a deceptive manner to hide what they are trying to do. Devious people only tell part of the truth and put a spin on what they do say. They often mislead others and lie to them in subtle ways. All of these things are sin, and they proceed from a perverse, devious heart. As David wrote Psalm 101, he addressed this issue and how he had come to see it. (Psalm 101:4) I believe this is how all of us should deal with a devious heart.

We should put a devious heart far from us. Of course, we need to confess anything in our heart that is sinful and would lead us to be devious. That will cleanse our heart. Then, we should keep anything devious from coming into our heart or mind. When we see or hear anything perverse, we should never spend time thinking about it or consider doing it, but we should put it away from our heart and mind quickly. Also, we should determine that we will never be involved in anything that is evil or even questionable. We must decide once and for all to be truthful and transparent with everyone around us. That way they will see we are not doing evil, and we are not being devious.
