His Faithful Love Endures Forever

I wonder just how thankful we are as believers. I pray that we live in a constant attitude of gratitude. I know we all have troubles, but the reality is that God is good. He is always good. Once we know Him, and He adopts us into His family, we are in His care. God always cares for His own. As the psalmist said, "His faithful love endures forever." (Psalm 107:1) I am not sure we understand the faithfulness of God. Let me try to explain.

The word in Hebrew translated faithful love here in the Christian Standard Bible is "checed." The meaning of this word is so full that it is translated in various ways to bring out the meaning. It can mean mercy, kindness, goodness, and lovingkindness.  It is the concept of covenant love or covenant faithfulness. The truth is that once God makes a promise or a covenant, He always keeps it. Once we are saved by the blood of Jesus, and we become a child of God, we enter into a covenant with God, and He enters a covenant with us. We might fail to keep up our end of the agreement, but He never fails to keep His part. He has promised to watch over us, to help us grow, and to take us to heaven. We can count on those things. That is why I said we should live in an attitude of gratitude. No matter what happens to us in our life, we have God as our caregiver and our Savior. He has prepared a wonderful place for us for eternity. Therefore, what bad can happen to us that should make us ungrateful? We have already been given so much more than we deserve, and the best is yet to come. If you do not know the Lord, I pray that you will consider His faithful love and turn to the Lord Jesus today.
