Come, Let Us Worship

The psalmist gave us a call to worship. (Psalm 95:6) It is very appropriate for this Lord's Day. Sunday is the day we are to remember the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is time for us to worship Him and the Father who made us. What are your plans for this Lord's Day? I urge each of us to set aside this day as a day of rest and worship. We should rest from our regular labor and focus on the Lord. Let's see just what God is calling us to do.

This verse begins with the admonition, "Come." I know this sounds like a self-serving pastor, but I do not believe we can stay home and worship, while still following this command. Yes, we can worship the Lord at home, by ourselves or with our family. We should do that often. However, the instruction of the Lord is for us to come together with other believers. He says "let us worship and bow down." The psalmist is in anticipation of being in a time of worship in God's house. Then, He shows us that worship is more than just attending a service. It is bowing before the Lord, either spiritually or physically, or both. It is a time when we submit to the Lord and kneel before Him. He made us, and He deserves all of our worship and praise. All of that is pretty clear from this one verse.

Therefore, make it a point to gather for worship today. Of course, you are always welcome to join us at North Henry, but there are many good churches where they worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth, and faithfully proclaim the inspired Word of God. I pray that all of us will be in one of those churches today to bow before the Lord in sincere worship.
