When God Takes Aim
God never misses His target. His prophesies always come true 100% of the time. There is nothing we can do to thwart the plans of God, if He has decided to carry it out. This is the lesson that the wicked king of Israel, Ahab, learned after hearing the prophecy of Micaiah, who said he would die in the battle the next day. Even though he disguised himself, so he did not look like a king, and he sent king Jehoshaphat of Judah out in his royal robes to be the target, God's arrow found the joint of his armor. (II Chronicles 18:33) King Ahab died that day, just like God had said. I pray that we will all heed this lesson.
Many people think they can get away from God's anger forever. They think they can outsmart God. They keep sinning, and they devise plans to keep from getting harmed from their words and actions. Since God is merciful, He always gives us time to see His will, repent, and follow Him sincerely. However, there will come a day when His mercy ends, if we fail to repent. He will bring His judgment on our sins, which is death. (Romans 6:23a) We can't run and hide. We will not be able to talk our way out of it. Yes, God is love, so He gives us every opportunity to trust Him, but He is holy, so He must punish our sins. Jesus loved us and died in our place to pay our sin debt, but we still have to turn away from our sins and trust Him as Lord, or one day God's arrow will find us, no matter what we do.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 19-21.
