The Fire and the Glory
Solomon finished building the temple of the Lord in all of its splendor. He filled it with all of the furnishings, and he brought the ark to be in the Holy of Holies. Then, he gathered the people for a time of dedication. There were a huge number of sacrifices, and Solomon led the people in a prayer of dedication, affirming that it would be the dwelling place of God. When he finished praying, fire fell and consumed the burnt offering and sacrifices. Then, the glory of the Lord filled the temple, so that all of the priests had to come out. (II Chronicles 7:1) This was a fantastic demonstration of God's power and His presence for all of the people. This is how God always comes when He comes to His people.
Like I said before, now all believers are the temple of the Holy Spirit, wherever we are in this world. We all need to experience the power and the glory of God. Therefore, we need to do what Solomon did. We need to present ourselves to the Lord in an act of total dedication of ourselves, our gifts, our abilities, and all we have to Him. Then, if He receives us in consecration to Him, He will be able to give us His power in unusual ways, and His glorious presence will shine through us, so others will see it clearly. I pray that all of us will have this desire in our hearts. That is when God is able to use us in mighty ways for His kingdom.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 8-10.
