David's Doxology
It is so important for us to give the Lord the praise that is due Him. A doxology is a statement of our praise to God. David was a master of the doxology. We find them throughout his psalms, because he was always ready to express his praise to God. As his life on earth came to an end, he was still writing doxologies. (I Chronicles 29:11) We should all be so quick to give God the glory, so lets' learn from David.
David began by acknowledging that greatness, power, glory, splendor, and majesty belong to the Lord. If He did not bestow these things on other people or things in this world, they would be devoid of them, because they all come from the Lord. In fact, everything in the heavens and on earth belong to God. He is the Creator and owner of all things. Without Him, there is nothing that exists. The eternal kingdom belongs to Him alone, and He is exalted as Head over all. I believe David has summed up God's glory and power in a few lines. Now, we need to keep expounding upon it, as we praise Him in all we do and say. I would challenge all of us to spend part of our prayer time each day glorifying God for His perfections as David does in this verse. Then, let's take that praise everywhere we go, so all we meet see Him for who He is, the Exalted One, who is Head over all.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 2-4.
