Limiting God

One thing that tends to cause us to have a lack of faith is when we think that God has limits on what He can do and how He can do it. If we limit God, then we don't even think we need to pray and ask Him to work. We end up trying to do things by ourselves, and we fail. That is what happened to king Saul. The enemy was approaching, and they had a multitude of soldiers with chariots. The Israelites were afraid, so they were leaving. Saul did not pray to ask God for a miracle. He just decided to offer the sacrifices to God himself and to go ahead and prepare to fight. Samuel came and told him he had sinned, so God could not bless his reign. However, his son, Jonathan, did not limit God. He and his attendant believed God could give them the victory, and they attacked at His direction and in His strength. (I Samuel 14: 6) They showed us a great principle that is always true.

God has no limits that keep Him from saving us or delivering us in any situation. He can save us by many or by few. He can use a few people to win a great victory. He can even use just one like He did with David and Goliath. Our lack of faith in God is the only thing that keeps us from experiencing the victories. Therefore, we must not set limits on God or what we ask God to do. We should just tell Him our situation and ask Him to show us how to do it His way. This is true for individuals, for families, and for churches. A church does not  have to have a lot of people to have a great revival or to see God work in a great way. The few who are part of the church family simply need to believe the Lord without limiting what He can do. This is my prayer for all of us, for our families, and for our churches.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 15-17.
