A Promise for the Righteous and Loyal

David had two opportunities to kill King Saul. Both times Saul was pursuing David so he could kill him, but David would not lift a hand against him because he was the Lord's anointed king. David trusted the Lord to take care of him and to remove Saul from the  throne in His way. David told his men this conviction, and he gave all of us a promise from the Lord that God will repay every man for being righteous and loyal to Him. (I Samuel 26:23) We can all cherish this promise.

When we are righteous we are right with God and with other people. That means that we do what we need to do to trust Christ as our Lord and Savior, as well as, following the Word of God so we can grow in Him. Then, we obey God's Word when it comes to others. That is why David did not take vengeance on Saul, even though Saul sought to take his life. David trusted the Lord, and he acted in a righteous way toward other people. All of this leads to being loyal to the Lord. We are constant in our love for Him, so that we do not do what we want, but what He has directed us to do. Then, God will surely repay us for our righteousness and loyalty. Just like God finally enabled David to reign as the king for 40 years, He will make sure we fulfill His purpose for us and we are blessed in the process of time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 27-30.
