Stronger or Weaker?

After the death of King Saul and his three sons, God told David to go back to Hebron. The people of Judah made David their king. He was king over Judah for seven years. All the while, the house of Saul was still trying to defeat David and put one of Saul's descendants on the throne. However, David was the rightfully anointed king of all Israel, so during that civil war David grew stronger and the house of Saul great weaker. (II Samuel 3:1) This is a great lesson for us today, as we seek to live our lives.

We can't go against God's will and prosper. Yes, we have the choice to go whatever way we choose. We can try to do things our way, but we will fail miserably in the end. It is God's will that will prevail, no matter what we choose to do and how well we do it. That is why we need to follow the Lord Jesus, find out His plan for our life, and do it His way. If we do that, we will find that we get stronger and stronger in the things that matter most. If we fail to follow Jesus, and do His will, we will find that we get weaker and weaker in the things that really matter. This downward trend will continue until we die. Therefore, I would ask all of us to take an assessment of our progress in life. Are we getting stronger or weaker? If we find the downward spiral happening, we need to stop going against God and surrender to Jesus completely. Then, He can direct us in His strength, so we make progress in His way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 4-6.
