Leaders and Volunteers

God has called some of His children to be leaders. Leading is a huge responsibility, and all leaders will answer to the Lord for whether they led others to do God's will in His way or not. Of course, those who are faithful receive a special reward from the Lord. The same is true for those children of God who volunteer to follow the leadership of the Lord through their leaders. When the believers willingly volunteer, much gets done, and it gets done well. In the whole process the Lord is blessed, because His work is done in a pleasing way. (Judges 5:2) This is a forgotten Biblical truth in so many ways.

Leadership is a very sensitive issue. It is hard to find a godly leader, who is genuinely wanting to lead because God has called him or her into that role. Often, leaders want to be in control of things. They like to get their own way, so they use their position of authority to guide things to the conclusion they want. That is not leadership. That is manipulation. A godly leader volunteers to follow the Lord's will and do what God says. There is no coercion used. That is why we need willing volunteers to carry out what God has laid on their hearts. The other believers see the wisdom of God in what is proposed, and they gladly volunteer to be used by God to accomplish it. This creates an unstoppable force, because God is always going to bless when godly leaders lead, and the believers volunteer. Please, do not fail to follow God's call to be a leader or a volunteer. God's people can be a great army for righteousness if we all do our part.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 6-9.
