How Long will You Delay?
Many of us are procrastinators. We put off doing things in a timely manner. This is especially true about the difficult things we need to do. When it comes to the things of the Lord, we should not want to put them off and wait. We are putting off our blessings, if we do that. Also, there are things that He has given us that are just waiting for us to claim them. (Joshua 18:3) They are gifts to us, but we have to reach out and make the effort to receive what God has prepared for us.
Once we are saved, God has things for us to do each day. (Ephesians 2:10) He prepared these things long before we were saved, because He knew that we would be saved far in advance. Along with having things for us to do to fulfill our purpose in life, God has laid up in heaven for us every spiritual blessing. (Ephesians 1:3) All of those blessings are there waiting to be claimed. However, they are like the land of Canaan to the Israelites. God had given it to them. All they had to do was obey Him in faith, and He would have given them possession of the whole land, a land that flowed with milk and honey. They put off claiming the land, so they were missing out on all of the advantages of God's gift. I wonder what we are missing, because we are putting off doing the things that God has ordained for us to do and the things which he has laid up to be blessings to us? I pray that we will stop procrastinating. Let's decide to seek the Lord, find out what He has for us, and take possession of all of it. Wouldn't that be a fantastic way to live?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 21-23.
