Heaven's Shepherd
Jesus is the Lamb of God, as we saw yesterday. However, He has many more names, and those names show us His activities. When we get to heaven, Jesus will be our Shepherd. (Revelation 7:17) Isn't that amazing! The Lamb who died for our sins, the Lord of all the universe, will be our Shepherd. It will be as if He is there to make sure we have everything we would ever need. This is one reason why we should be able to endure great suffering here in this world, since we know that there will be no suffering of any type in heaven. Jesus will make sure of that.
In Revelation 7 we read the description of the Tribulation saints. These are people, who had not heard the gospel before the Rapture. They get saved by trusting Christ from the witness of the 144,000 evangelists, sealed by the Lord to protect them, or from the witness of other believers during that horrible time. They washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, so that their sins are forgiven, and they go to heaven when they die. Jesus is there for them, and I believe for all who know Him, so that we will never hunger, thirst or have pain. Jesus will shepherd us, so that we get to be refreshed from the springs of living water, and He will wipe away every tear from our eyes. With a Great Shepherd like Jesus our stay in the beautiful place will be made a hundred times better. What a relief it is to know this and to focus on this during the trials and tribulations of this life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 9-11.
