The Lamb and the Lord
At the end of time on this earth there will be a 10 nation confederacy under the leadership and authority of the Antichrist. Of course, he will receive his power from Satan himself. They will fight to kill all of the believers, which will include the people of Israel, who will come to Christ during the time of the Tribulation after the Rapture of the church. Finally, they will get so angry, since God is protecting Israel, that they will amass a huge army at Armageddon, or the valley of Megiddo north of Jerusalem to attack with all of their force. It is at that moment that Christ will return with all of the believers who had been taken to heaven. He will conquer these kings and their armies, because He is the Lord of Lord and King of Kings. (Revelation 17:12,14) What a glorious victory it will be for the Lamb!
This is the paradox we see in the book of Revelation about Jesus. He is the Lamb, slain for the sins of the world. He is called the Lamb all the way through the book. However, He is also the One with all of the authority to open the seven seals and to command the armies of heaven. He is shown coming back in great power, as we will read tomorrow. That is because He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, as well as the Lamb. These two polar opposites come together in the Person of Christ. He is the Lamb and the Lord. When a person comes to receive Jesus, he or she must be aware of this reality. He is the Lord of Lords who became the Lamb of God slain for our sins. When we trust Him, we trust Him as the Lamb and the Lord. He will forgive our sins, but He also has full authority over our life, or He will not save us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 19-20.
