The Round Trip of Jesus

When I was able to go to the Holy Land, thanks to the generosity of my North Henry Baptist Church family, Chris and I stood on the Mount of Olives. It was a cold windy day in February, but it was quite a thrill to look down on the Temple Mount across the valley with the Dome of the Rock shining brightly where the temple used to be. We visited a small chapel with an exposed stone in the middle that could have been where the feet of Jesus last touched this earth before He ascended back to Heaven. At the same time we thought about the fact that when Jesus returns to this earth, He will return to the Mount of Olives. (Zechariah 14:4) That will be the day Jesus sets up His 1,000 year reign on this earth. We all need to be ready.

When Jesus ascended back to Heaven, the angel told the disciples to stop looking up for Jesus. He knew that they needed to get back to Jerusalem to wait for the promise from the Lord and to get to His work. However, the angel assured them that this same Jesus would return in the same way they saw Him go. One day, at the end of the Tribulation time, Jesus will descend from Heaven until His feet touch the Mount of Olives. The difference will be that the second time the Mountain will split in two, with one part moving north and the other part moving south. What a dramatic round trip Jesus will make. That earthquake will get the attention of everyone that the Lord of Lords has arrived to rule over all the nations of the world. If we come to know Him as our Lord and Savior before it is too late, we will follow Him back from Heaven and reign with Him for those 1,000 years. However, for those who reject His grace, there is no hope for eternity. I pray that you will trust Him and be prepared for His return. It could be at any time now.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Malachi 1-4.
