Shining Brightly
We all know how bright the sky can be. It hurts our eyes to look at it. Also, when we have gone out at night, and we have seen the stars that shine so brilliantly, it is amazing. God's lights for the day and the night truly stand out, so we can't miss them. The Lord told Daniel that those who are wise will shine with the brightness of the sky, and those who turn many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever. (Daniel 12:3) That is a fantastic promise. I wonder how brightly we are shining now?
This promise was given to Daniel as the Lord was describing to him the events of the Last Days. We live in those days now. It is a time of great darkness, and it will keep getting darker until Jesus comes back to reign from Jerusalem. We can see today how wise people, who know the Lord and His ways, shine forth the wisdom of God into the darkness of relativism and perverseness around them. Also, it is a rare thing for us to see people today turning many people to righteousness, since the world is so opposed to Christ. However, those who do really stand out as the exceptions to the lukewarm Christians around them. I pray that we all will aspire to shine brightly by being wise and turning many to righteousness by calling them to know Christ as Lord and Savior.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Hosea 3-5.
