Humble Prayers are Heard and Answered
I am afraid that we sometimes rush into our prayers without considering our own heart condition. Yes, we are doing well by praying, but are we pleasing God by the way we are approaching Him? Daniel knew the correct way to pray, and he had the right heart condition to have his prayer heard and answered. (Daniel 10:12) We need to learn from Daniel's example, so we can be confident that God will hear and answer our prayers.
God actually sent His angel to answer Daniel's prayer for understanding. He does not do that for us today very often, because now we have the Holy Spirit to communicate with us in a very personal and specific way. The angel told Daniel that as soon as he set his heart to understand and he humbled himself before the Lord, the prayer was heard. When we pray we need to set our heart to understand God's way of doing things, and we need to remember that He is in control of all things, so He can do whatever He wants to do. Therefore, that is why we must approach the Lord with a humble heart. Who are we to expect the Lord of all to answer us? Yes, we are His children, but it is only by His love and grace that He cares for us and listens to us. We should be humbled by that love and grace. When God sees that humility, He hears our words, and He answers our prayer in His timing and in His way. However, we can always count on Him doing the right thing and showing us all we need to understand, just like He did with Daniel.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 11-12 and Hosea 1-2.
