God is Able to Deliver Us
God is able to do whatever we need for Him to do to deliver us from any situation. The Three young Hebrews knew that when they were confronted by the king with death in a fiery furnace. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not give in to the king, but declared their confidence in the power of God. Then, they also declared their total commitment to God, even if He did not save them from death; they would not worship the king's image or any of his gods. (Daniel 3:17,18) I wonder how many of us have the same confidence in God and the same commitment to Him?
God is all-powerful, all-wise, and all-loving. He is our Father, and He always does what is best for His children. In any situation He can and will deliver us from any attacks or danger, if that is the best thing for us and those around us. If He knows that it would be better not to deliver us, He allows us to suffer or even to die. Can you trust the Lord to do the right thing each time in your life? Can you stand firm in your devotion and faith in Him, even if it means dying? I believe that is the radical, costly faith and obedience He wants us to have. If we have that type of faith, the world will see the Lord in and through us like King Nebuchadnezzar did so long ago.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 4-6.
