Fruit for Food, Leaves for Healing
The Millennium will be a very unique time in the future. It will be a 1,000 year period when Christ will reign from His throne in Jerusalem. The end time Temple seen by Ezekiel will be in Jerusalem and from it will flow a river. The water will come from the sanctuary and flow to the east. The water will flow into the dry regions of the land and to the sea. Everything in and around the river will live. In fact, when the river gets to the sea, the ocean water will become fresh. All along the banks of the river will be trees. Their fruit will not fail, and it will be new every month. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing. (Ezekiel 47:12) What a glorious picture of the power of God to give life and to bring healing.
The Bible tells us that people will live long lives during the Millennium. A short life for a child will be 100 years. God will bring in a time of peace, in which the lion will lie down with the lamb, and the children will be able to play with poisonous snakes, fearing no harm. This river will provide God's people with the food they need from the fish to the fruit. The leaves will even be useful for healing. In other words, God will provide all they need for long, abundant lives. Even though that is a completely different time I do not believe that God ever changes. He is still in the business of supplying our needs and even bringing healing. Now, it is up to us to trust in Him and do His will as He directs us. However, He does not want us to suffer any lack, because He is the Good Shepherd. Yes, He does not always heal, but how many times has He brought healing to us in our lives. We do get hungry at times, but how often has He fed us. God is the Provider of all we need, and we all need to look to Him as our Source and trust Him to supply in one way or another. Then, we need to express our thanks and praise for all He does.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 1-3.
