God's Second Chances
Has God ever had compassion on you and given you a second chance at something? I believe all of us could find examples of God doing that in our lives, if we are honest with ourselves. We have all failed in life, but God is so loving and merciful that He looks upon us with His compassion. Then, He allows us to be able to do what we should have done before and do it well. That is what happened to Israel after their exile in Babylon. (Isaiah 14:1) God brought them back to the land, brought others to help them in establishing the country, and He even gave them the ability to show the Babylonians that they were able to accomplish great things. I believe God will do that for us, as individuals, too.
God knows us much better than we know ourselves. He knows our weaknesses and our strengths. He sees our hearts, and He weighs our motives. However, in all things, God is compassionate and merciful. Therefore, He is not prone to be rash in His judgment of our sins. He is just like the father in the story of the prodigal son. He was waiting for his son to return, and he gave him a robe, a ring, and a party with a fattened calf to eat. He gave his son a second chance, even though he had failed so miserably and had such a bad attitude. Please, be assured that God is still that way today. Take Him up on His offer when He offers you another opportunity, and decide to trust Him the way you should have done before. There is no telling what could happen then.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 17-20.
