Do Not Be Afraid

How often we become afraid. However, if we are followers of Christ, we should never be afraid. If we learn the reality that Elisha taught his servant, we would be more than confident that God can handle anything that comes into our lives. (II Kings 6:16,17) Let's take this lesson to heart, so we can never be defeated by fear again.

The king of Syria had sent an army to kill Elisha, because the prophet was able to tell the king of Israel his location to protect him from his enemy. When his young servant saw the army amassed against his master, he was terrified. However, Elisha calmed his fears by letting him know that the host of God that was with them were greater than the army of Syria. Then, his servant actually got to have his eyes opened, so he could see the great multitude of chariots of fire around his master. That brought his fears to an end.

I pray that we all know that God's angels are all around us, as believers, and His Holy Spirit is in us to protect us and empower us, too. Therefore, we have nothing to fear from Satan and his forces. They are so much less powerful than the power of God. The only way Satan has a chance against us is to make us afraid or if we give in to him. If we stand firm with the Lord, he is unable to get through to harm us. Yes, on occasion Satan's forces attack us in spiritual warfare, and they can inflict pain or problems. However, if we resist the Devil, he has to flee from us; and God draws near to us, when we draw near to Him.(James 4:7,8) Then, we are safe and secure in the Lord.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 7-9.
