A Testimony Proves God's Power

We can try to teach people the Bible, but they may not believe the Bible is really God's Word. We can tell them about what has happened to other people or at church, and they may not believe those things either. However, when we give a testimony about what actually happened to us by God's power, we give them proof of God's power. They can doubt what we say, but it is very difficult to fully dismiss a personal testimony. Elisha's servant, Gehazi, was telling the king of Israel about the great things the Lord had done through Elisha. The king wanted to hear these things. However, God added to the account of Elisha restoring life to the Shunnamite's son. The lady and her son walked into the room at that exact time to ask for the king's help. Gehazi was able to show the king that this was the very person Elisha had restored to life. (II Kings 8:5) What a powerful testimony to God's power!

All believers need to learn the power of sharing what God has done for us personally. Especially in this postmodern age of skepticism about absolute truth, a real life testimony is effective in getting through to people who need to know the Lord. It does not need to be something as fantastic as raising the dead. It can be a Scripture verse God used to speak to our hearts. It could be a circumstance in our lives that could only have been engineered by God. Whenever we know we have seen God work in our lives, we need to share it with others with whom we have the opportunity to impact for the Lord. If we do not have these types of testimonies, there is something wrong in our walk with the Lord, and we need to seek Him more, and watch for what He will do. Then, we need to be quick to share it.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 10-12.
