God's Great Wisdom
I am not sure that we, as finite humans, could ever comprehend the vast wisdom of God. He truly possesses all knowledge, and His ability to use it in wisdom is unfathomable to us. However, He is gracious to grant us His wisdom abundantly, if we ask Him. That is what Solomon did, and God poured out more wisdom and understanding on him than on any other man who ever lived. (I Kings 4:29,30) Let's look at how God blessed Solomon.
God gave Solomon so much wisdom and understanding that it was "beyond measure." We have tests for intelligence and for knowledge, but none of the tests developed by men could have measured the full extent of his wisdom and understanding. Solomon had breadth of mind like the "sand of the seashore." We can't even count the grains of sand on the beech, much less know the breadth of the knowledge God gave to Solomon. He possessed more knowledge than all of the people of the east and of Egypt. There are still books being written about the amazing knowledge they have discovered in the way the pyramids were constructed and in the writing of great men of the east, but Solomon exceeded them all. Just think of how God can and will bless us with wisdom and understanding if we will ask Him, sincerely desiring His help for the needs of our lives.(James 1:5) Why not take Him up on His generous offer?
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 5-7.
