Signs of Confirmation
God wants us to trust Him and what He says. Sometimes, He will take steps to confirm His words and His will by working a miraculous sign. The Bible tells us about these in many places. One of the most graphic was the sign God gave to confirm His choice of Aaron and the tribe of Levi. He had Moses put 12 staffs or rods in the Tabernacle before the Lord, one for labeled for the leader of each tribe. Then, the next day the staff of Aaron had sprouted, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds, all in one night. (Numbers 17:8) That showed the people how much God wanted them to listen to Aaron and honor him and the men of Levi who did the service of the Lord in the tabernacle.
Have you ever needed confirmation about something in your life? Maybe you needed to know for certain about a decision like when Gideon received the sign of the fleece and the dew. Perhaps, it was more subtle than that. Maybe you needed for God to confirm your spiritual gift, so that when you exercised your gift, He sent someone to you to confirm how they were blessed or saved through your gift. Either way, it is a great miracle, and it shows how God works to lead us in His will, when He needs to make sure we get the message from Him. I do not want you to ask for a sign each time or doubt the Lord. However, be open to God's use of signs in your life, and when He sends confirmation, always receive it and act on it in faith.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 19-21.
