God's Desire for All People

God is the Lord of all, and He deserves all glory from every person in this world. He is not arrogant, but if He denied His greatness, He would be sinful. He can't do that because He is holy. Because God desires for all to glorify Him as Lord of their personal lives, He does whatever He does in our lives to draw us to Him and to show us His glory. That is even true of when He has to do things that bring us pain. Even the bad things of life are designed by God to show us we need Him, but we are doing wrong. That is why He brought  the plagues on the Egyptians. He wanted all of the people to know He was the Lord, so they could choose to turn to Him in repentance and faith. (Exodus 7:5) Therefore, even in His wrath He is gracious and merciful to us.

How many times do we get mad at God when we do not get our way or when we suffer in some way? We miss the point of our problems and suffering. The fact that we can't handle everything ourselves should point us to depend on God. The reality of our finite nature should point us to the infinite God. When we suffer, it should show us that God is the Healer, or it might need to show us that we have sinned, so we need to repent and follow Him better. Of course, the same is true of the good things in life. All of the good gifts and great things we have come from Him, not from ourselves, so we should give Him glory and submit to Him as the One from whom we receive all we have and need. When we do that we not only know He is the Lord, but we experience a personal relationship with the Lord of the universe, and that relationship is what makes life eternal and abundant.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 9-12.
