God Provides the Best

Once Joseph revealed his identity to his brothers, they were amazed and dismayed that he was their brother. Then, Joseph told Pharaoh that his family was going to come to Egypt from Canaan. Pharaoh was overjoyed to be a gracious host to the family of Joseph, the one who saved his country from the terrible famine. In fact, he supplied wagons of good things from Egypt for their journey and wagons in which their children and wives could ride in comfort. On top of that, he commanded Joseph to tell them not to bring all of their goods, because the best of the land of Egypt was theirs. (Genesis 45:19,20) What an amazing turn of events! Joseph's family went from sure ruin in the 7 year famine to living in Goshen and having all of the conveniences that the richest country in the world could provide.

I believe this is an example of how God provides for His children. It is not that believers do not go through times of want, but in the end God provides for us all we need, if we will remain faithful to Him. That is God's nature. He wants His children to have the best. Our problem is that we try to make our own plans and provide for our own needs, so that we miss His plan for us. We need to stop trying to do things our way and start trusting the One who always does much better for us than we could ever do for ourselves.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 47-49.
