Loving and Believing in Jesus
Some people think we are very foolish for loving Someone we have not seen and for believing in Someone we do not see. However, we who know Jesus do not think it is strange at all. Jesus is as real to us as people whom we can see, and we have a relationship with Him that is real and personal. This causes us to rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory, knowing that the outcome of our faith relationship with Jesus is the salvation of our souls. (I Peter 1:8,9) Does that make sense to you?
One day in a college class our Christian professor confessed he did not believe in angels, because he never saw one. A very wise student asked him if he has ever seen Jesus, and another chimed in, "Blessed are those who have not seen, but have believed." The professor quietly changed the subject without answering the questions. The students won that confrontation, because we have to be able to love and trust Jeaus, even though we have not seen Him, and we do not see Him now. We can do that because He comes to us and shows Himself to be very real. He speaks to our hearts, convicting us of sin and showing us how He is the Lord, who became our Savior by dying and rising again for us. Then, we love Him for loving us, and we believe in Him for His sacrifice of Himself, and we continue to love Him and trust Him forever. What could ever stop us?
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Peter 2-4.
