Able to Keep Us from Stumbling

All of us are prone to stumble by choosing to sin or by falling into a sin without thinking. Either way, we need to be restored to our proper relationship with God, which is always broken by sin. As we see this happening, we need to realize that there is a way to keep from stumbling. God can and will keep us from stumbling, if we will depend on Him and obey Him completely. (Jude 24,25) The problem is that any time we live on our own with relying on Him and the power of the Spirit, we will stumble.

Think about your life? When was the last time you stumbled by sinning? How did it happen? What we all need to do is to deny ourselves, so that we become convinced that without Jesus we can do nothing. (John 15:5) Then, we need to make sure that we begin each day with a time of confession and filling of the Holy Spirit by submitting to Him in every area of our lives. Finally, we listen to Him in everything all day, so that we live by trusting the Lord, not ourselves. However, if we fail to do that at any point, we confess that sin, so God can cleanse it, (I John 1:9) and we ask the Spirit to take over again. Soon, we will notice that we stumble less and less, because we are depending on the One who is able to keep us from stumbling.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Revelation 1-3.
