If Only....
Most of us have times when we look back on our lives, and we say to ourselves, "If only I had done this or gone there." We can see where we got off track, and we believe our lives would have been better, if only we had taken a different course. Well, God said the same thing about His people. (Isaiah 48:18) We need to see what He revealed to them, because it will profit us, too.
If Israel had paid attention to the commandments of God, He would have made sure that their well-being and righteousness were abundant and ever flowing. However, since they did not pay attention to His commandments to keep them, they found themselves persecuted and alone in a pagan country. Maybe, you can relate to that yourself.
God has a way of blessing those who obey Him, and the blessings come like a river. In fact, when we obey Him, our well-being is like a powerfully flowing river. He keeps supplying what we need. Also, our righteousness is like the waves of the sea. The waves are powerful, and they keep coming in wave after wave. There is no lack of waves in the sea, and when we do God's will, He makes sure that our righteousness grows and grows. There are many benefits to paying attention to the commandments of the Lord every day.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 49-52.
