Our God is Greater
Sometimes we want to get into a debate with another person about how something is greater than something else. Most of the time, it is a matter of personal opinion. However, when it comes to Our God, He is greater than all other gods by far. (II Chronicles 2:5) Solomon knew that, and that is why He was building Him such a great house. The whole world needed to know that Solomon's God was the greatest, and the world still needs to be brought to understand this fact.
There are many gods in this world. Religions all around the world are proud to worship many gods at the same time, because each one has an area of expertise or power. Other religions only worship one god, but it is not the God of the Bible, so their god is a false god, too, falling far short of Our God's character and power. The great thing about Our God is that He is greater than all of these other gods, and He is able to do more than all of them put together. His glory is beyond our finite ability to comprehend.
Also, people make gods out of all sorts of things like pleasure, money, power, or fame. None of those false gods is able to deliver one tenth of the satisfaction of knowing the God of the Bible. They are simply substitutes for people, who think they have a reason not to believe in the One True God. When we look into the evidence for creation of all things, and when we consider all of the facts about the life of Jesus Christ, we must conclude that Jesus is Lord of all, and the God of the Bible is greater than all the other gods.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 5-7.
