When God Shows Up
When God shows up, there is no doubt that it is the Lord. If you have ever experienced the powerful presence of God, you know what I am talking about. His presence is unmistakable and oh so powerful. When Solomon finished praying at the dedication of the Temple, God showed up. (II Chronicles 7:1) It is a great example that shows us how God manifests Himself at times.
Fire came down from heaven. It was obvious that the fire came from a supernatural source. That source was God, Himself. The fire consumed the burnt offerings and sacrifices that the priests had on the altar. God showed that He was pleased with their offerings and the house which had been built in which to offer burnt offerings and sacrifices. Then, His glory filled the house Solomon built for God. The glory was a thick cloud that was tangible and overpowering to the point that the priests had to leave the temple for a while. None of us can stand the full glory of God while we are in our earthly bodies. However, He does give us a taste of His glory on occasion.
Our God is not weak that He cannot speak to us. He is not shy that He does not appear to us. However, He is looking for us to be in the right frame of heart and mind by truly honoring Him and submitting to Him before He shows up. I pray that each of us will strive to so please God that He will show up in our lives and in our churches.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 8-10.
