Trusting God

God has a plan for every person and every nation on this earth. He desires for all people to know Him by having a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. However, there is much more to His plan than that. He has a plan for every day of our lives after we trust Christ. What we have to do is to hear from Him when He tells us His will, and then, we trust Him to do it in and through us. (Joshua 6:2) Joshua knew this lesson very well, so he obeyed God completely. We need to do the same thing.

When the people crossed the Jordan river into Canaan, they did it just like God instructed Joshua, and it happened. When they went to Jericho, God said, "I have given Jericho into your hand." Notice, that statement is in the past tense, even though it had not happened yet. What does that tell us? It means that God's plan is laid out, and it is as good as done, if we will take Him at His word, and do just what He told us to do. That is what Joshua led the people to do, even though it was strange to march around the city blowing trumpets and then to shout to bring down the walls. He was looking for faith, not their power to fight. The same is true for us today.

Therefore, it is essential for us to hear from God as we read His Word and pray. Then, when He reveals His will, we must do it, without reservation. If we have that kind of faith, we can see mountains moved, but only if it is part of God's plan that He has laid out for us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 7-9.
