The Benefits of Meditating on God's Word

When Joshua took over for Moses, God was very specific in His directions to him. God desired for him to be a good leader and to enjoy success in taking the land of Canaan. In that way the sons of Israel would prosper according to God's will for them.(Joshua 1:8) What was the key to that success? Let me share what the Bible says so we can benefit from it, too.

God commanded Joshua to meditate on the law of God, which was the Word of God, day and night. It was not to depart from his mouth, so that he would constantly be referring to how God's Word was the basis of what he was doing and how he was leading the people. When we meditate on the Word, we digest it completely. When go over it until we understand it fully, and we are convinced we need to live by it. When we do that, we will not depart from it, but we will do everything that is written in it. Since God's word is true, and it never leads us in the wrong way, if we understand it correctly. Meditating on it will cause us to live as God desires, and He will bless us with His blessings. That is true prosperity and success. The prosperity of the world is nothing compared to what God has for those who fully follow His Word. Worldly success is empty, but God's success is satisfying.

Therefore, I would urge all of us to practice meditating on the Bible day and night. Read it. Memorize it. Write it on cards to pull out all day long while we have to wait or when we have a break. Ask the spirit to make it plain, and He will. Then, watch how God blesses our lives.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 4-6.
