The Lake of Fire
God prepared a place for the Devil and his angels who followed him in his rebellion against God. It is a terrible Lake of Fire. It was not intended for any human to go there, since it is not God's will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. However, many people have chosen not to follow God, so after the Great White Throne Judgment, they will be sent to the same place as their leader. (Revelation 20:11,15) It will be the saddest day in history for God and for those of us witnessing this sight.
Some might say that since God is love, why would He do this to anyone? The answer is quite simple. God is holy, too. His holy nature means that He always has to do the just or righteous thing in every situation. Since the wages of sin is death, eternal death and separation from God, He has no choice but to punish those who die in their sins, never having listened to His revelation of Himself to them and never acting in faith to trust Him.
I pray as we close out 2016 that all of us have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ, turning away from our sins and trusting the Lord who died for us and rose again for our salvation.
