Turn Back to the Lord

We need to turn back to the Lord before He destroys America the way He destroyed Judah and Jerusalem in Jeremiah's day. Sin was the cause of that destruction, and it is the reason we are on the brink of destruction now. What do we need to do to avert this disaster? Jeremiah gave us a prescription for turning back to the Lord. (Lamentations 3:40,41) We need to apply these truths to our lives and our churches.

We must search out and examine our ways. Before we can turn back to the Lord, we must take time to do an audit of our lives to see what sinful things we are thinking, saying, and doing. We must search out what the Bible says about all of these things. Then, we must turn back to do exactly what the Lord tells us to do. We call that repentance. We turn from going the wrong way, and we begin to go the right way. It takes new beliefs and actions to replace our sinful beliefs and actions. That is where we must begin.

Then, we need to lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven. We must turn to the Lord in worship and in complete devotion. He must become the focus of our hearts and lives. We must honor Him with what we do with our hands. We must raise our clean hands to God and ask God to direct us and use us in His service and for His glory. Then, our lives can stay on track, and we can live for the Lord each day. We can receive His rewards instead of His destruction.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Lamentations 4-5 and Ezekiel 1.
