The Word of the Lord and the Hand of the Lord

Whatever God directs us to do, He empowers us to accomplish. That was true of the prophet Ezekiel, and it is true for every believer still today. (Ezekiel 1:2,3) Let's all learn from Ezekiel's experience with the Lord.

Ezekiel was with the exiled people of God in Babylon. Even in those difficult circumstances, Ezekiel clearly heard the Word of the Lord, which God expressed to him by the river Chebar. That word came directly to the prophet. God spoke to Him in some manner that was completely understandable and clear. He knew what God wanted him to say and to do.

At the same time the hand of the Lord was upon him. Put simply that means God's powerful presence was with him to guide and empower him for God's mission. God's right hand is a symbol of His great strength. His hand also speaks to us of His provision from His riches. When God's hand is with us, we can do anything within His will, no matter how impossible it may be to us.

God still gives us His Word expressly today, and His hand of powerful provision is still with us, when we follow His will. That is just how our God operates in out lives.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 2-5.
